At
CCRI, we provide comprehensive training to our new team members,
as well as
promote and provide on-going training to our seasoned staff.
Our training
program is customized and designed to provide effective and high
quality training using a variety of training methods ranging from
classroom style and interactive groups to one-on-one observation
and demonstration using a variety of training tools.
Two
Day New Hire Orientation. These two days include a variety
of different trainers with extensive expertise in the field. They
will share a wealth of information on the following topics:
•Quality
service and the FISH Philosophy
•
Health and wellness for the employee and the client
•
Overview of developmental disabilities, mental illnesses, and
medical conditions
•
Developing rapport with clients
•
Safety, including safe ergonomics, fire safety and more.
•
Crisis intervention tools and techniques for dealing with challenging
behaviors
•
Rules and regulations relating to our services
•
Medication administration
•
Client active treatment, client goals and individualized treatment
plans
•
Documentation procedures
•
HIPPA and confidentiality
•
CCRI history
•
And much, much, more
Department Orientation.
This is a three hour training
course specific to the department a team member is hired in. It
covers more job specific training including:
•
Teamwork and team building
• Staff empowerment / interpersonal communication
• Maintaining professional boundaries
• Department specific policies and procedures
• Site guidelines and community integration
• Confidentiality
• Time sheets, expense reports, time off requests, etc.
• Safety and client transportation
• And, much, much, more
On-The-Job
Training: On-site
training is specific to the needs of each individual client. Training
is performed using a variety of techniques including observation,
demonstration, policy review and 1:1 mentoring by the on-site trainer.
Team members may be trained on any of the following:
•
Administering and monitoring medications.
• Community integration
• Performing medical and personal cares including feeding,
bathing, monitoring seizures, safe transferring, and more.
• Specific on-site policies and practices
• Specific disabilities, mental illness or medical diagnosis
• Client specific individualized treatment plan and goals
• Effective communication
• Developing rapport with the client(s)
Continual
Learning Opportunities: Additionally,
CCRI requires continual training of its direct service team members
in order to meet licensure compliance. Team members are required
to meet a designated number of annual training hours as a condition
of continued employment.
Continual
learning opportunities provided by CCRI include:
• On-Site Resource Library. Our library has a variety of
books, videos, self study " modules that are available for
checkout.
• Monthly CPR and First Aid courses are offered
• In-house training on specific procedures, diagnosis, or
hot topics are arranged several times throughout the year
• Opportunity to receive training credit for college courses
relating to work at CCRI. 
Continual
Learning Financial Support Benefit: This is a benefit provided
to team members with at least two years of service with CCRI who
have the opportunity to apply for financial assistance in pursuing
training or further education opportunities. CCRI is participating
in the Department of Human Service (DHS) Home and Community Based
