The Simple Joys

Written by Chelsea Cash, Erika’s caregiver

Erika is a vibrant, funny, outgoing and overall joyful person. She loves to make people smile which is exactly what she did at The Elks Annual Picnic. Erika graced the picnic with her voice while singing karaoke. She put so many smiles on people’s faces when she sang that many people asked her to sing some more. Erika loves to share her talents with others and is a cheerleader when others share their gifts. She has the biggest smile! While we were at the picnic Erika let me in on a little secret—she had not been on a swing since her diagnoses of Multiple Scoliosis three years ago. Luckily we happened to be at Lindenwood Park that day which is designed for people of all abilities.  I was thrilled to help her spend some time flying through the sky!  Erika was smiling and giggling the entire time and shared with me how wonderful it was to do something despite her  diagnosis. I love that my job allows me to help Erika meet new people, try new things and have lots of laughs along the way.

My name is Chelsea Cash and #IAmCCRI.
